Meningeome sind langsam wachsende Tumoren, die von den Hirnhäuten ausgehen. Sie zählen mit rund 35 \% zu den häufigsten Tumoren des zentralen Nervensystems (ZNS) und treten vermehrt ab dem 50. Lebensjahr auf. Mehr als 90 \% der Meningeome sind gutartig.
Was ist ein Meningioma?
Die Meningen sind Häute des Gehirns oder des Rückenmarks. Ein Tumor an diesen Häuten wird Meningeom (auch Meningiom) genannt. In der Regel ist der Hirnhauttumor gutartig (benign).

Meningeome der Olfaktoriusrinne sind re- lativ seltene Tumoren mit engem Bezug zu den Ethmoidalzellen. In ca 15 \% dehnen sie sich nach caudal aus und erfordern dann oft ausgedehnte interdisziplinare Eingriffe.
