Was ist eine Carotis Doppler Sonographie?

Beim Carotis Doppler handelt es sich um eine Ultraschall-Untersuchung dieser Gefäße, bei der sowohl strukturelle Veränderungen der Gefäßinnenwand als Frühzeichen einer beginnenden Verkalkung, bereits entstandene Ablagerungen, als auch der Blutfluss in den Arterien sichtbar gemacht wird.

  • When to order carotid ultrasound?

    Your doctor may order a carotid ultrasound if a blockage is suspected based on listening to your neck or based on your cardiovascular risk profile. This test should also be performed if you have had a stroke or a Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA).

    Why would you need a carotid ultrasound?

    Carotid ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves to view the carotid arteries. It looks for plaques and blood clots and determines whether the arteries are narrowed or blocked. A Doppler ultrasound shows the movement of blood through the blood vessels. Ultrasound imaging doesn’t use X-rays.
