Wie entstehen Tintenfische?
Ein weiblicher Oktopus legt etwa 200.000 Eier. Dann bleibt das Weibchen so lange bei ihren ungeschlüpften Kindern, bis diese aus den Eiern schlüpfen. Die bislang längste bekannte Brutzeit eines Kraken liegt bei sage und schreibe viereinhalb Jahren.
Woher kommen Kraken?
Lebensraum. Die meisten Kraken sind Grundbewohner (Benthal). Die benthischen Flachmeerarten können auch einige Zeit außerhalb des Wassers überleben und sich dort fortbewegen. Oft suchen sie Gezeitentümpel auf, um dort nach Krebsen, Schnecken und anderen Tieren zu jagen.
Kann man Tintenfische züchten?
Angesichts der katastrophalen Bedingungen beim Wildfang könnte man vermuten, dass Aquakulturen Lösungen schaffen könnten. In der Tat gibt es in mehreren Ländern Bemühungen, Tintenfische in Aquakulturen zu züchten. Allerdings führt das zu neuen Problemen.

Cephalopoda is the most morphologically and behaviorally complex class in phylum Mollusca. Cephalopoda means „head foot“ and this group has the most complex brain of any invertebrate. Cephalopods are characterized by a completely merged head and foot, with a ring of arms and/or tentacles surrounding the head.
When did cephalopods first appear?
Cephalopods arose in the Cambrian (approximately 500 Ma), at about the same time of the earliest known vertebrates.
Why are cephalopods important to humans?
Cephalopods are of considerable economic importance to humans. Many species of squid and octopus are eaten. Nautilus shells are often used decoratively, and the internal shell of a cuttlefish, or cuttle bone, is sold in the pet trade as a calcium source for birds.
Are cephalopods shelled or internalized animals?
Whereas in the early phase of their evolution cephalopods were shelled animals (as testified by the large numbers of fossilized ammonite and belemnite shells that have been found), the shell was subsequently either internalized or abandoned altogether.
